Cultural heritage and a factory at risk. The spring semester of 2017 started with an introduction of the old sugar factory in Staffanstorp, Sweden. A left over piece of ground that has hosted medical companies, flee markets and small offices since it was shut down in 1963. When I first encountered the area it was raining. Typical for this area in the southern parts of Sweden. The orange bricks caught my eye and the grand chimney beside the factory building raised high above the ground. During this time the municipality of Staffanstorp had presented their vision for this area, a new neighborhood with combined living, working and recreation. As a bachelor project I wanted to contribute to their plans and proposed a space for our youngest - I presented the kindergarten of Betan.
